Originally called Manavon, 凤凰镇——电影所在拍摄地之一—— was settled in 1732 和 incorporated as a borough in 1849. In its industrial heyday early in the twentieth century, it was an important manufacturing center 和 it was the site of great iron 和 steel mills such as the Phoenix Iron Works, 锅炉工作, 丝绸织造厂, underwear 和 hosiery factories, 火柴厂, 和 the famous (和 now highly collectible) Etruscan majolica pottery.
